LinkedIn = Professional Networking

Pams VAS Pam's VAS News and Updates

Unfortunately many linkedIn profile holders in our Industry of Real Estate, may have the wrong idea about LinkedIn and how it’s different than the big social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Think of LinkedIn as a massive stadium filled with thousands of your industry peers. Great opportunity right? To rub elbows and possibly find new clients or new assets to your company.

So, are you mingling and discussing the good and bad areas of your business? Discussing your ideas and experiences that might make a contribution to making the system better or that might help someone else by paying it forward to them so that they might avoid the issue you experienced? Or, are you pulling out pics of your pets and complaining about your day, week or month?

If you are the latter of the two, then you probably have a very small crowd or group around you.

If you are the former, then you are probably the nucleus in a mighty large group of peers that are all ears while your speaking, that want to hear what you have to say, and maybe learn from you. Thats LinkedIn! A galaxy of discussions and energy, some good and some irrelevant. It’s all about filtering through the groups and finding the best one that fits your need for knowledge and hopefully a place to offer your expertise.

Here are a few basic tips also:
·       Join groups related to your profession
·       Be active in the groups
·       If you are posting to groups, read the groups rules first; some have delegated sub groups for sharing blogs
·       Make sure when you share blogs with the group, it is relevant to what the group and discussion is about
·       Make sure your picture is professional
·       Make sure your details are relevant to your career
·       LinkedIn is a professional platform and not Facebook. People get irritated when their feeds are filled with personal interests such as funny pictures or chain statuses.
As a Real Estate Virtual Assistant it is exceptionally important to adhere to LinkedIn guidelines. This is a platform where you can show off your skills. You can obtain numerous clients on this platform. Make yourself stand out from the crowd and show potential clients why they should work with you.

Basically, be professional, be nice and add something unique to the groups, and you’ll see the difference it makes in your business.
